Join us April 22nd for Serenbe Film's monthly series, the Daisy Movie Night! We will be showing Easter Parade!
Come to the Blue Eyed Daisy Bakeshop anytime after 4pm for dinner, then at 6pm, Lee Foster of Serenbe Film will be singing a few Irving Berlin songs (with our Executive Artistic Director Greg "Suds" Sudmeier playing piano) then 6:30pm watch Easter Parade, a quintessential 1948 Great American Songbook musical film starring Judy Garland, Fred Astaire and Peter Lawford. The film includes some of Astaire and Garland's best-loved songs, such as "Easter Parade", "Steppin' Out with My Baby", "A Fella with an Umbrella", "I Love a Piano", and "We're a Couple of Swells". Irving Berlin wrote 17 of the film's tunes, and Johnny Green and Roger Edens won an Oscar for their musical adaptation. The closing performance of the title song is pure movie magic!
Easter Parade won the 1948 Academy Award for Best Original Music Score. The writers of the film also received the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Written American Musical. The film was the most financially successful picture for both Garland and Astaire as well as the highest-grossing musical of the year.
Come learn about the film's background, play a movie trivia game (with prize!), and enjoy some wonderful fellowship and community fun!
Sign up online to secure your free seat! We only have room for 40-45 people, so be sure to sign up early, and make sure to tell us how many in your party too!
The film series is a free-will donation at the door ($5?, $10?, whatever you can...it's all for a great cause!)
Serenbe Film's new Daisy Movie Night monthly film series is loads of fun for all ages and filled with something new to learn every month!
