Join us June 10th for Serenbe Film's monthly series, the Daisy Movie Night! We will be showing The Maltese Falcon!
Pre-show talk: Serenbe Film's own, Peter Clemens (Art Director, Paramount Studios, and many others), will delight our audience with some history of the movie!
Come to the Blue Eyed Daisy Bakeshop anytime after 4pm for dinner, then at 6:30pm watch this 1941 "film noir" (French for "black film" or "dark film”). The Maltese Falcon was written and directed by John Huston (his directorial debut), and based on Dashiell Hammett's 1929 novel of the same name. Some film historians consider The Maltese Falcon the first film noir. It put down the foundations for that native American genre of mean streets, knife-edged heroes, dark shadows, and tough dames.
The film stars Humphrey Bogart as private investigator Sam Spade and Mary Astor as his femme fatale client. Gladys George, Peter Lorre, and Sydney Greenstreet co-star, with Greenstreet appearing in his film debut.
The story follows a San Francisco private detective and his dealings with three unscrupulous adventurers, all of whom are competing to obtain a jewel-encrusted falcon statuette.
Come learn about the film's background, play a movie trivia game (with prize!), and enjoy some wonderful fellowship and community fun!
Sign up online to secure your free seat! We only have room for 40-45 people, so be sure to sign up early, and make sure to tell us how many in your party too! The film series is a free-will donation at the door ($5?, $10?, whatever you can...it's all for a great cause!)
Serenbe Film's new Daisy Movie Night monthly film series is loads of fun for all ages and filled with something new to learn every month!
